Bonnie Kane: saxophone, flute and electronics
(bandleader of W.O.O., W.O.O.Revelator and WORLD OF TOMORROW, musician in Mambo Mantis, D.-I.S.K. and KLN)
A pioneer in extended saxophone and electronics technique. A dedicated improvisor and bandleader with a focus on improvised composition, the composition being defined by the relationship of the players. "I am interested in the soul, in the deepest of feelings, in the magic moment of connection and creation."
Has been playing with drummer Ray Sage, since 1990, first in W.O.O., which mutated into W.O.O.Revelator. It was during the W.O.O.Revelator period in 1999, that they first met and played with Ernesto Diaz-Infante. This resulted in the CD, ³The First Time² featuring the NYC based W.O.O.Revelator (Ray Sage, Bonnie Kane, and Chris Forsyth) along with the California duo of Pat Harmon and Ernesto Diaz-Infante. During 2000, there was an opportunity for Bonnie and Ernesto to do a small duo tour. This resulted in the CD, ³Mysterious Planet². A fluke in festival programming during 2002 solidified the trio format of Bonnie, Ray and Ernesto into D-I.S.K.
The music of D-I.S.K. is rich in texture, going from a thick creamy porridge to, as described by the Village Voice: ³an excruciatingly delicate wisp². Their first CD as a trio, ³The Nature of Things² was recorded during studio sessions in 2002 and 2003, and finally released in 2004.
Ray Sage: drums
The son of a drummer, Ray has continued the family trade mesmerizing audiences throughout the US, Japan and Europe. Came to NYC during the early 1980¹s and joined the legendary and wild noise rock punkparty band outfit, the Reverb Motherfuckers, who defined the extremes of what a live NYC show could be. Was also active with Dogbowl and King Missile, making several recordings on the Shimmy Disc label. Has toured and recorded with Ron Andersen in several projects, including PAK. Joined W.O.O. with Bonnie Kane in 1990 and never stopped. Now plays with Bonnie in a new project, Mambo Mantis, along with D-I.S.K.
Ernesto Diaz-Infante: acoustic steelstring guitar
Diaz-Infante is a guitarist, multi-instrumentalist and composer who also curates the Big Sur Experimental Festival. After cutting his chops in highschool jazz groups, garage rock and Mexican conjunto bands, he's gone on to become one of the most prolific of the avant-garde composers on the West Coast.
